I remembered how much I would have to pay just for 7 towns, which was 3500g for all them together.
I didn't want people to be paying that much, and since I didn't run it to often I brought the price down to 200g for a town. 1400g for all of it.
The next thing I know I'm about to leave with the group that I just formed, and someone PMs me...(I want to give away his name just in case people want to complain at him, but I may get in trouble)
and he is complaining at me about how cheap I am running the entire desert. Saying I shouldn't go any cheaper than 250 - 300 per town that I would kill the running community.

I was responded saying something like Dude...leave me alone...I don't want to fight with you, because how cheap I made it.
and he kept going on untill he called me a idiot and blocked me.

Then just an hour ago, I just came into Amnoon and to piss him off I saw him and he was running the desert for 400g a town, and I yelled out Running Entire Desert FREE! Invite Self Now! I don't know if people left his group...but I hope they did....

but really...is it really that bad of a thing if I just brought down the price that much!?

PS: I'm sorry if this is in the wrong fourm, but I thought this was kind of a general topic in a way since it doesn't really consider builds and stuff.
is nothing wrong to run ppl for free. and just put those troll on ur ignore list.

Some runners get mad that some people run places cheaper then normal, because then they wont get as much money as usual.

It's a free world (well, at least the part we're living in, is). So it's totally up to you whether and how much you charge for your services. Sometimes you see posts here telling people how much to charge for Ecto or running or whatever but they don't seem to have gotten the concept of a free market.

I aplaud all the geniuine runners of this game and think they offer a valuable service to players bringing up there 2nd+ chars. Problem is people pay for runs and dont learn the game which leads to some awfull players. However I love runners and do a little myself (although free as I cant guarantee anything). I recently saw two great runs and learnt alot! Did you know you can solo the sanctum cay mission? I do now. More amazingly if a little expensive I payed 5k to have one of the desert missions solo'd! (the one with all the rez shrines) I was convinced this couldnt be done easily at all. But low and behold thid guy did it! A fantastic display by runners/solo's which everyone should see

Most runs are easy enough that, after I've played my Wa/Mo and run myself to and fro all over the place I have to wonder why anybody pays for runs anywhere except maybe Drok's.

The ease of most runs, combined with the continual undercutting of run price by competition due to an influx of runners lately, has resulted in most runs being worth almost nothing anyway.

Even Drok's is devalued down to 2-3k.

The problem with running is similar to the problem in Diablo2 with Rushing. You get old players who do it all the time because they've been through the game 3,582 times, and they help out new players who haven't. Then the new players think that that is the only way to play, so when someone comes in and actually tries to, oh, i dunno, play through the game, they get called a n00b because they're not running to droks, purchasing the few skills for their cookie cutter build, and then powerleveling in max armor off trolls.

p.s. edgecrusher: are you the same edgecrusher from the d&d story hour boards?

My point indeed! I dont think its a bad thing if its your second character maybe but not your first! People never learn how to obtain small aggro groups rather than the whole map. They dont learn anything about the skills they have. But mainly they dont learn how to operate as a team. Recently Ive been out with a few rangers who havent played the game properly and they are some kinda liability. Although I dont use a ranger I think they have the flexibility to be one of the most usefull chars to play. Id just like to see some more educated players online (pipe dream)

You wont hurt the running market at all, its all supply and demand anyways. I offer free runs to Droks from Beacons all the time and everytime I visit Beacons I still see 2-3K prices so there really is no harm done. And I dont waste any of the pro runners time either because the people that sign up for the free runs cant afford the 2-3k price so Im not even digging into their customers. I usually only get offered a tip from 1 of the 5 ppl I run and its usually 500 gold LOL I tell them to save it for their armor.

The dude that said you were hurting the running community is just wrong. There are far more ppl needing runs than runners. And anyone who thinks that their market is being dwindled needs to learn more runs so that they will always be needed somewhere.

Anytime I get harassed by a pro-runner I tell them Im doing it free so I dont get scammed. That usually shuts them up imediately.

If we were to compare this to an economy, we could call runners "firms" and consider each runner an individual business. For the sake of argument, lets assume that the market for runners is a perfectly competitve market. This means, among other things, that what one "firm" does has virtually no impact on the market as a whole. The number of "firms" is so large that the actions of one "firm" will not affect the market.

Basically, the argument that running for less than a certain amount will somehow ruin the game's economy is a weak one. The actions of a small percantage of runners will have no impact on the economy. Now, it is true that when large numbers of people begin lowering prices the market can change, i.e. Droks runs for 2k instead of 3k. But I don't think this could really be considered a bad thing. And there are still plenty of people paying 3k for runs to Droks.

It's interesting to see how the economics of Guild Wars follow the economic laws of the real world.

99% of info is found on guildwiki; that leaves only 1% of info to be gleaned through forums. not a lot to work with here...

frankly, it is statistically likely that everything that needs to be discussed probably already has been discussed, so that leaves rehashing old shit and socializing as the order of the day...

Okay...now I don't feel so alone on this topic... and I know what to say if I run into something like this again...
But was it really necessary for him to call me an idiot?
I mean I wasn't thinking it was a bad thing untill he said something...and once he did I was going to quit running altogether and change my running armor to either to another type of fighting armor, or salvaging it for the runes. Now I know differently...

Now, if I could just figure out the build for Citadel to Grotto run with my 55...

n00bs as we call then dominate all online forums/games/web sites because they feel safe. there is nothing you can do to stop them so why would they be kind? it is unavoidable and wherever you go they will follow.

but you aren't doing anything wrong. a competitive market is just that, competitive. if you get enough people for a discounted price then you will eventually make more then him anyway. just because he doesn't care about all us poor people (i have maybe 10k at the most) it doesn't mean you can't.

People like that make me want to develop a monk running build.
And give half-price/tips/free runs.

Good for you. There is no right to make profit off running. Charge what you want. Its game - you're supposed to have fun - if thats what you find fun - more power to you.

Yes, I'm a sales man for a company in the UK, I sell products that many other companys in the UK also sell, however, I sell them for MUCH cheaper!

My competitors get mad at me all the time, but my customers love me

now.. who do I care about the most ?
